This show is named for the Legend of the Crossroads, that place just near Clarksdale, Mississippi, where the King of the Delta Blues, Robert Johnson, sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for mastery of the blues guitar. The Devil took him at the age of 27 years.
Posthumously, Johnson's musicianship and songwriting has inspired generations of famous musicians to the present day - think of Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Muddy Waters, John Mayall, Cream, and Led Zeppelin. Clapton described Johnson as “the most important blues musician who ever lived.” Keith Richards summed it up: "Everybody should know about Robert Johnson...You want to know how good the blues can get? Well, this is it.”
Starting with some local contemporary Blues music, David plays music from all genre of music inspired by the Blues. This includes Delta Blues, Electric Chicago Blues, Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, Rockabilly, Rock and Roll, Rock, Soul and the British Blues Revival.
Each show includes David's Song Pick of the Week - where a famous 'Blast from the Past' is examined in detail.
